The Difference between Digital and Image Intensifier Tube Night

Night vision is technology that provides users with some vision in total darkness and improved vision in low-light environments.
The two main types of night vision technology are Digital Night Vision and Image intensifier tube Night Vision.

Digital Night Vision

The way a digital night vision works is by using a sensitive CCD and CMOS chip to the amplify the natural ambient light. Recent advances in CDD, CMOS, OLED and brightness adjustment technologies digital night vision has become a viable option to image intensifier tube night vision
Digital Night Vision has a couple major advantages to Image intensifier tube night vision
  • Manual Brightness or gain adjustment: allow just the amount of light in to maximize the image clarity of your prey
  • With the advent of OLED technology the image is displayed in better clarity than traditional LED screens
  • Digital Night Vision can be used in conjunction with an "Invisible" IR Flashlight to enhance the quality of the image
  • Most Digital night vision has video outputs or SD card inputs to record what you are seeing through your night vision device. I some case the image quality is better than what you are currently seeing through the device.
  • Unlike and intensifier tube, you do not need to worry about exposure to bright light. Your digital Night Vision Device can be used day or night
  • Most digital night vision devices give you the same clarity as a Generation II+ intensifier tube at a 1/3 of the price

Image intensifier tube night vision

Image intensifier tube night vision works by using a chemical process to amplify any and all ambient light. This way you can use your Night Vision device without the need of using an infra red source.
